Waxwing Light-gun Controllers

Common Opera (Brooklyn and Los Angeles) enlisted Artiform Design to engineer and produce a limited run of controllers for a light-gun style arcade game. After some initial advising on the design of the Victorian-esque controllers, they were designed for FDM printing, engineered to withstand vigorous game-play while allowing easy repair of internal components.

 Waxwing is on permanent exhibition at Wonderville in Brooklyn, and a mini-cabinet version has travel to various exhibitions in the United States and Europe. It won the 2024 Human-Human-Machine aware from A MAZE in Berlin, Germany.

It was funded by Arcade Commons and Brooklyn Arts Council.
